John Kinnear B.C.D. , S.C.A.

John Kinnear was born in Bedford, England, on the fifteenth day of August, 1922, the son of an industrialist. He was educated at Bedford Private Schools, and studied in England. His progress was interrupted by the Second World War, serving with H.M. Coldstream Guards.

Kinnear studied under Charles Bell at the Northampton Technical School, England (1937) ; also with Frank Law, R.A., England. His personal experiences in combat, as a prisoner of war, a campaigner in Africa and Europe, and later, a widely travelled Canadian are the basis of his art.

Public and private collections of his paintings are numerous and currently hang in Canada, U.S.A., England and many other countries including Ireland, Australia and Japan.

Kinnear is now noted for watercolours and the 15th century medium of silver point.
