Luis Ituarte
Luis Ituarte was born in 1943 in Tijuana, Baja
California, Mexico. He studied law at the Universidad
Nacional Autonomade Mexico in 1962 in Mexico City and the
Guanajuato State University in 1968. At this time he
began work for the Deparamento de Accion Cultural
(Cultural Action Department). In 1972 he was commissioned
to produce 15 posters for the First International
Cervantes Festival. Before moving to Victoria, Luis
worked with artist and muralist Jose Chavez Morado. In
1974 he immigrated to Canada and settled in Victoria,
British Columbia.
